MASHONALAND WEST PROVINCE

Zvimba North – Ward 16

Intimidation and Forced Attendance to political gatherings.
ZANU PF ward Political Commissar identified as Mutandabuta forced and intimidated Kamwaza residents to attend a party cell restructuring meeting on the 8th of July 2017 at Rafingora Hall. Mutandabuta threatened that all those who refuse to attend will be beaten up towards the elections.

Zvimba West – Ward 9

Intimidation with threats of violence.
On Wednesday 19 July 2017, Councillor John Chinake and Ward Chairman Reason Alfas both from ZANU PF intimidated community members ordering them to “repent” and join ZANU PF or risk being beaten in the upcoming elections. Chinake went further to threaten that all known opposition supporters will be evicted from the area before the voter registration process begins. This took place during a ZANU PF restructuring meeting conducted at Chirau Hall in the ward.

Hurungwe West – Ward 24

Intimidation
On Thursday 13 July 2017, Felix Maramba, a ZANU PF member intimidated community members at a ZANU PF restructuring meeting conducted at Tapota homestead in Maregere village. He ordered that all opposition members should be beaten up and forced to defect to ZANU PF before the 2018 elections.

Kariba – Ward 12

Intimidation with threats of violence 
A ZANU PF District member identified only as Chisvetu intimidated community members during a community meeting on the 11th of July 2017 in the ward centre. He highlighted that all known opposition supporters will be beaten up in the upcoming 2018 elections.

Hurungwe West – Ward 24

Intimidation

Kenny Musekiwa, a constabulary police officer on the 15th of July 2017 moved around the ward compiling names of all village heads. Musekiwa highlighted that he was compiling the names under a directive from Magunje District Police Station. He ordered that all village heads should not conduct any meetings without the presence of a police officer. He further threatened that he will use the information to find out traditional leaders who are anti- ZANU PF.

Kadoma – Ward 16 rural

Intimidation

Emmanuel Tahwa, a war veteran on 17 July 2017, forced people to attend a ZANU PF meeting in village 2 at Doneni shopping centre where he threatened opposition supporters with violence if they do not defect to ZANU PF before the elections.

On 22 July 2017, Ngoni Putsai a ZANU PF youth approached MDC T supporters during their district meeting and threatened them with violence if they continue to campaign for their party in the area. This also took place in village 2 ward 16.

MIDLANDS PROVINCE

Zvishavane – Ward 8

Unfair food aid distribution 
A ZANU PF member only identified as Ms Dombo denied opposition supporters food aid from the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare. This took place on 14 July 2017 at Maglas in ward 8. Mrs Dombo highlighted that all opposition supporters will not receive food aid until they defect to ZANU PF.

Mberengwa North – Ward 12

Unfair aid distribution
ZANU PF District Chairman and Chairwoman, Joshua Zvandasara and Pauline Manzanga denied opposition supporters rice from the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare distributed on the 10th of July 2017. The rice was distributed at Chidembeko Township. He ordered that all opposition members will not receive food aid in the ward. The two went ahead to give the aid to ZANU PF card carrying members only.

In another incident on the same day, Member of Parliament for Mberengwa North Hon, Tafanana Zhou of ZANU PF threatened and intimidated community members at Chidembeko Township in ward 12. He threatened that all known opposition supporters will be heavily assaulted towards the elections. This happened a few hours after the distribution of food aid. The MP buttressed that no opposition supporter will benefit from any Government initiative in his constituency.

MASHONALAND EAST PROVINCE

Mudzi North – Ward 17

Intimidation with threats of Violence

On the 22nd of July 2017, Mudzi North Member of Parliament Hon Milton Kachepa intimidated community members at Musawu Primary school during a ZANU PF restructuring meeting. He ordered that everyone in the ward must vote for ZANU PF in the 2018 elections. He further highlighted that all those who defied risk being beaten up.

MASVINGO PROVINCE

Chivi South – Ward 25

Intimidation
ZANU PF ward chairman, Tongai Mafuzhe intimidated community members during a community field day conducted on the 11th of July 2017 at Wasarira Mushandirapamwe garden in Tarusarira village. Mafuzhe disrupted the meeting and started chanting party slogans. He further threatened people with the violence similar to the 2008 one if ZANU PF fails to win the 2018 elections.

MANICALAND PROVINCE

Buhera West -Ward 5

Intimidation
ZANU PF Chairman and Village head Vakisai Chakanetsa and ZANU PF youth chairperson Brighton Mutizwa on the 14th of July 2017 intimidated community members during a ZANU PF meeting at Chenhengeni centre in ward 5. The two addressed the meeting and threatened opposition supporters with violence if they continue campaigning for their parties in the area. Chakanetsa further stated that the new Biometric voter registration process will assist the ruling party to monitor voting patterns in the area.

Makoni West – Ward 15

Intimidation with threats of Violence

Village head Rupfunde who is also ZANU PF District Secretary on the 20th of July 2017 intimidated community members during a community meeting conducted at his homestead in the ward. Rupfunde highlighted that opposition supporters are going to be beaten and evicted from the area before the 2018 elections.
